All hail King of the Brass, Mike Barnett. There was a tie for the King Trophy between Richard Hofer and Mike Barnett. Mike won by a fraction.
It was a fun day of racing.

Brass day started with F1 on the D6. 7 slightly apprehensive racers ready to test the D6. We were pleased to see Sarge walk in the door ready for a full day of racing. Pauls Watts, having spent many hours working under and over this track finally got to see all his work in action.

We had several visitors that each helped marshal. Glen Blanchard brought his wife Roxanne in for the grand tour. Tony Griffin stopped by to see the action packed race on the D6. Most of the Watkins family came by to visit. David and Casey installed a light system on the King so I can see the status of power. Thanks to all of you for your help. We were short on marshals all day so your help was greatly appreciated.

Everyone had a poorish heat except for Richard Hofer. He won by a commanding 7 laps over Gary Dean. Richard also had TQ with 4.53 Well done Tex.

These F1 cars can crash really good on the D6. But they can drive very well too. Its a drivers track, offering a completely different experience from the King.

1st Richard Hofer 218 laps TQ 4.53 NEW TRACK RECORDS
2nd Gary Dean 213 laps
3rd Mike Barnett 211
4th Eddy Mac 203
5th Sarge 189
6th Jay Howard 180
7th Paul Watts 175

Next race of the day was F1 on the King. Or should I say back in their comfort zone. 5 entries ready to aim for the podium. Paul Watts suffered with a chronic mechanical issue that kept him out of the hunt and an early finish.

1st Mike Barnett 282 laps TQ 4.57 fast lap 4.69
2nd Richard Hoffer 271 4.99
3rd Eddy Mac 264 4.99
4th Sarge 256 4.93
5th Paul Watts 161 4.77

Last race of the day was Can Am on the King. 6 entries in this race. Thanks to Willie who came in to finish the new pit tables and helped marshal.
Mac was trying a new JK chassis and had lots of troubles. He decided to retire that chassis mid 2nd heat. Sarge had some car troubles that made him decide to retire to be a spectator/marshal. So there were 4 racers left to battle it out.

Jay absolutely fried a motor on the back shoot. Smokey and stinky! He thinks that motor had "6 or 8" races on it. Mike Barnett had TQ, high heat as well as the victory. Richard gave him a run for his money but in the end it was Mike's race.

1st Mike Barnett 293 laps TQ 4.36 fast lap 4.28
2nd Richard Hoffer 283 4.61
3rd Paul Watts 269 4.60
4th Jay Howard 251 4.49
5th Sarge 68 4.99
6th Eddy Mac 41 4.92

Thanks to everyone that came to race and everyone that came to visit. It was a great Brass day and great practice for upcoming Texas Cup Retro Challenge.

Saturday was a new interesting day at Dallas Slot Cars. HO swap meet, HO racing, 24th racing on the King and 24th racing on the D6....it was all great.

The Flexi Nascar race was first. Everyone was busy looking at all the HO stuff on the tables but I managed to slow a few down to race. We even recruited an out of towner for his first 24th race. Russell Zachery from west Texas ran a very good race. He didn't have too much warmup time but drove great. Jay Smoot snuck in at the last moment to enter.

This was Glen Blanchard's race to win. Well done to Glen for a fantastic drive.

1st Glen Blanchard 298 laps TQ 4.38 fast lap 4.43
2nd Jay Smoot 271 4.60
3rd Paul Watts 264 4.65
4th Jerel Hayes 222 4.98
5th Russell Zachery 197

Next race was Flexi Can Am. A different mix of racers for this one. George Mikez came in to play a little. Gary Dean stopped the reunion with his HO buddies. George Steuben came in to run his first Flexi race. Rounding out the field was Jerel and Glen. Remember this is Glen's favorite class and he proved it winning by almost 40 laps!! This was Glen's second win of the day.

1st Glen Blanchard 317 laps TQ 4.12 fast lap 4.21
2nd George Mikez 281 4.39
3rd Gary Dean 274 4.28
4th Jerel Hayes 238 4.60
5th George Steuben 235 4.70

With the swap meet closing down and their HO racing beginning, we moved to the D6 for 24th racing.
7 entries in this class. It was a laugh every minute. This track is really fun. See the photo of the pile of Indy cars. That was NOT staged but an actual track call.

This was Mac's race to win. Gary Dean gave him a run for his money, sneaking within a few feet of Mac for 2nd place. Jay had an impressive TQ 4.19 but broke in the race. This was George Mikez's first run on the D6. After a few heats he found his rhythm. Dean Wolfe had a nice 3rd place with Glen in 4th.

1st Eddy Mac 142 laps
2nd Gary Dean 142
3rd Dean Wolfe 124
4th Glen Blanchard 120
5th Jay Howard 111 TQ 4.19
6th George Mikez 110
7th George Steuben 95

Next race was Retro Can Am on the D6. A poor turnout with only 3 entries. This was the first time theis class had run on the D6. Mike Barnett broke his chassis in the 2nd heat. He replace it with another so he could continue. Frank had a few little problems. It was a victory for Mac. An usual double win for Mac.

1st Eddy Mac 224 laps fast lap 4.21 Blue
2nd Frank Reedy 220 laps fast lap 4.17 Orange
3rd Mike Barnett 190 laps TQ 4.15 fast lap 4.16 Green

It was a really fantastic day of racing at Dallas Slot Cars. Lots of new faces today. Visitors and racers, it was very cool.

First race of the day was Flexi Indy on the D6. There were 10 entries. This class just keeps getting better and better. The D6 is so fun yet challenging, everybody seems to love it.
Qualifying was very close for the top 3. Ben 4.12, Gary Dean 4.10 but Glen Blanchard set a new track record 4.09. Well done Glen.
We had 3, new to Indy racers today. They weren't too far off the pace since everyone is still learning this track.

Jay broke in his 2nd heat and decided it was un repairable. Jerel had a mechanical issue in his last heat. But everyone else held together for the leg nth of the race. 4 sitouts made for plenty of marshals for the D6.
All new track records tonight except for high heat. Several racers have run 26 laps.

1st Gary Dean 153 laps NEW TRACK RECORD
2nd Glen Blanchard 148 laps TQ 4.09 NEW TRACK RECORD
3rd Ben White 145 laps Fast lap 4.05 orange NEW TRACK RECORD
4th Eddy Mac 145 laps
5th Dean Wolfe 130 laps
6th Randy Parker 114 laps
7th George Steuben 113 laps
8th Wes ?? 107 laps
9th Jay Howard 23 laps

Next race was Flexi Can Am. 6 entries in this flexi class that handles like a dream. This race was back to the King track.
Qualifying was very exciting. Ben White was up 5th to qualify. On his very last lap he broke the track record running a 4.03. The old record, held by Glen Blanchard (from the first day we ran this class) was 4.048. Everyone cheered for Ben as Glen hooked up to qualify. Possibly feeling a bit of pressure, Glen ran a couple of warmup laps and then he meant business. On his 6th lap he ran a 3.968. The first person to run under 4.0 in Flexi Can Am. wow wow wow. Needless to say the crowd went crazy.

George had several gear issues that gave him trouble throughout the race. Glen broke just into the 2nd heat. His guide spacers were laying on the track which told us all we needed to know. He and his guide were finished for this race.

1st Ben White 316 laps fast lap 4.11
2nd Gary Dean 303 laps 4.22
3rd Dean Wolfe 293 4.28
4th Jerel Hayes 275 4.44
5th George Steuben 273 4.27
6th Glen Blanchard 44 4.22 TQ 3.968 NEW TRACK RECORD

Last race of the day was Flexi Nascar. 8 entries and Mac sat out to help marshall.

2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th was the battle in this race. All because Jerry Hall had his race face on with full intentions of winning. And win he did by 8 laps over 2nd. He led wire to wire, winning his first race with a full track. Plus he TQ'd! Well done Jerry!

Ben, Glen and Jay Smoot and Gary Dean all hashed it throughout the race. At one point, 3 of them were on the same lap with the other one, one lap behind.

Jay Howard's car was quick so he decided to pull it off and save it for the Texas Series next weekend.

Jay Smooth had his cheering squad with him. Dillon and Jordan were his pit crew.
Randy parker had his son Colton with him to help.

1st Jerry Hall 305 laps fast lap 4.45 TQ 4.20
2nd Ben White 297 laps 4.39
3rd Glen Blanchard 295 laps 4.45
4th Jay Smoot 293 laps 4.54
5th Gary Dean 284 4.50
6th Jerel Hayes 255 4.66
7th Randy Parker 243 4.66
8th Jay Howard 85 4.33

It was a really great day of racing. Plus all the visitors we had made for a really fun day of slot cars.

Don't forget next weekend is the TSRA Texas Series. Flexi Nascar is the first race of the day so come race, watch and talk to a room full of people that enjoy slot cars.

First race of the day was Flexi GTP. 5 racers for this one. Ryan carpenter brought his friend Corbin to race. Corbin was new to slot cars but not new to racing. He quickly adapted and drove a great race. Jerry Hall and Ryan battled for 2nd the entire race with Jerry just edging out Ryan. Ricky Hall was back for more fun too.

This was Glen "toothdoc" Blanchard's race... winning by more than 9 laps. Glen TQ'd with a 4.03 but actually ran a faster lap in the race with a 4.01 on purple.

1st Glen Blanchard 331 laps TQ 4.03 Fast lap 4.01
2nd Jerry Hall 322 laps
3rd Ryan Carpenter 322 laps
4th Ricky Hall 309 laps
5th Corbin ?? 214 laps

The next race was Flexi Nascar. 6 racers in this one. Ryan and Willie both had car troubles. That left Bill, Glen and Mac to battle it out and avoid nerfing the new racer Corbin. Near the end Bill and Mac knew they couldn't catch Glen so the battled each other. They laughed and raced so hard, it was fun to watch. Bill TQ'd and had the fastest lap of the race with a 4.28.

It was lots of laughs today. Everyone seems to be looking forward to the new 32nd class that begins next weekend. Thanks to the volunteer marshals.

Thanks to everyone for coming to play this weekend. We know you have other choices for fun stuff to do. We appreciate when you find time to come play and have fun with us.
