Oh it was a great day of fast and furious racing at Dallas Slot Cars. The sound of wings and glue and speed aahhhhhh...it was wonderful.
I especially want to thank all the marshals for helping. We have a great group that help each other and help marshal when their race is finished. Too much vacationing for Jay meant he was not at the track this weekend. A huge thanks to David Watkins for cleaning the track before we opened. Then, thanks to everyone that cleaned up all that gooey glue after the races.
We welcomed a couple of almost strangers to the track. David Key and Chase Walker have both been incognito lately but quickly found their trigger fingers. It was great to have them both on the track.
These warmup races we have had between the TSRA races have been really good. It keeps everyone's skills sharp. Motor changing, glueing, braid cleaning...its a marathon to the end of the last heat. But what a lot of fun!!
The first race of the day was Wing Flexi. 5 entries in this one....But Mac was on a mission. He led wire to wire with Glen chasing him the entire race. Dean and Ryan's cars were just a little short on horsepower. Paul had a mechanical issue, taking him out early.
1st Mac 387 laps fast lap 3.46
2nd Glen Blanchard 383 laps TQ 3.38 fast lap 3.50
3rd Dean Wolfe 376 laps fast lap 3.61
4th Ryan carpenter 370 laps fast lap 3.67
5th Paul Watts 118 laps fats lap 3.60
Next race was TSRA GTP. (Not to be confused with Flexi GTP) This class runs with a handbuilt motor. Its the fastest non wing car we race.
Chase was on a mission this race, with David and Brian racing cat and mouse behind him. David was also a tad distracting by his cheering squad. His 3 grand kids, his wife, daughter and her new video camera all kept him busy.
Chase was a rocket not only winning but TQing as well.
1st Chase Walker 381 laps TQ 3.31 fast lap 3.18
2nd Brian Cannon 339 laps fast lap 3.56
3rd David Watkins 329 laps fast lap 3.46
Then it was time for glue bottles. Armed with glue, rollers and glue patters they began madly glueing the track for that sweet speed.
5 entries in this race. 5 great, experienced racers and 5 great marshals, kept the track calls to just a few.
Everyone was there to race and not too interested in qualifying however....they decided to run 1 hot lap just for fun. David Key, had previously decided not to qualify but the 1 lap idea challenged him. An he answered the challenge by TQing.
I think everyone took the race to test motors. Most everyone changed motors almost every heat. With the clock ticking, there was much thrashing, glueing, braid cleaning in every corner of the building.
This was David key's race to win. He led wire to wire. David Watkins retired early, having a race he would like to forget. John Batson and Chase chased each other back and forth for 2nd place. The 8th heat had Chase of red and John on purple giving John the advantage to finish 2nd.
1st David Key 504 laps TQ 2.56 fast lap 2.62
2nd John Batson 497 laps fast lap 4.57
3rd Chase Walker 483 laps fast lap 2.68
4th Mac 443 laps fast lap 2.73
5th David Watkins 315 laps fast lap 2.62
Thanks again for everyone that came and played, practiced and raced with us. It was a super cool race day.
Sundays attendance was very low. Everyone has lots of fun things to do during the Texas Summer. Dont forget us at Dallas Slot Cars. Your a/c, indoor, fun summer activity.
4 entries in Flexi Nascar. Thanks to the volunteer marshals today, Paul, Tony and Phil. Mac had a motor failure half way through the race causing him to retire and help behind the counter. Mike, Ricky and Jerry all battled it out to the end.

2nd Ricky Hall 191 laps fast lap 4.55
3rd Jerry Hall 188 laps fast lap 4.60
