Jan 3 2009  TSRA Warmup
Saturday was wing and glue day! It was a perfect day for finding your trigger finger, practicing motor changes, gluing, cleaning braid....all the things it takes to be competitive in wing racing. It was music to my ears to hear the sounds of wing cars whizzing around.

I think every racer had some sort of trouble sometime during the day. It truly was a perfect warm-up day. Testing motors, burning up a couple of motors, fast motor changes all kept the racing exciting.

USRA Boxstock had 6 entries. David Watkins and Chase Walker stayed a lap or two apart the entire race. In the end, Chase crossed the line 3 laps ahead of David. 502 laps was a new track record. (David will reverse the results in a race later that day) George lost a motor early on and decided to prepare for TSRA box. Justin had lots of trouble from the start. (He was excited because he was going to see the WWE that night. Probably couldn't keep his mind on the track)

1st Chase Walker 502 laps NEW TRACK RECORD
2nd David Watkins 498
3rd Willie Stanglin 475
4th George Mikez 442 TQ 2.39
5th Jay Howard 409
6th Justin Risk 291

Onto TSRA Boxstock....4 entries ready for the unlimited version of Boxstock. Once again George had a lightning fast TQ but to only have his race go up in smoke 2 heats in a row. George called it a day and packed his box.
Chase had built a small lead over David but suffered technical problems in the 5th heat. He had 3 heats to make up 25 laps on David. It was a really really exciting 3 heats. Both of them focused and drove fantastic. Going into heat 8, David was 5 laps ahead of Chase. As usual with Chase in a must catch up heat, he pulled out his wonder motor. But it was one heat too late. Although close, David won by 2 laps.

1st David Watkins 520 laps
2nd Chase Walker 518
3rd John Batson 408
4th George Mikez 77 TQ 2.16

Next was Cobalt 12. Wow they are fast. John Batson decided this was going to be his race to win and win he did. David and Willy gave him a battle but it was John's race setting a new track record for total laps.

1st John Batson 616 laps NEW TRACK RECORD TQ 2.08
2nd David Watkins 561
3rd Willy Stanglin 535
4th Jay Howard 318

It was a great day of wings, speed and glue. Thanks to everyone for coming and racing with us. It was Excellent.

It was a busy Sunday at Dallas Slot Cars with 3 full races. We welcomed 2 new racers today. Greg Moses and Jereme Lebourgeois. Neither of them are new to slot cars. They both had a great day of racing and I'm sure they will be back for more. Lots of our regular racers were able to make it today. Everyone seems to enjoy Flexi GTP. It will make a fabulous Enduro in February.

Richard Hofer ran all 3 flexi classes enjoying himself immensely. Dean Wolf had one of those race days where everything goes wrong. Better luck next time Dean. Glen Blanchard gave Gary Risk a run for his money but it was Gary's race today. Glen TQ'd with a very fast with 4.10.
Greg Moses, in his first race at Dallas Slot Cars, had a tremendous race finishing 3rd. He never came off when he ran on red! WOW!

1st Gary Risk 328 laps

Flexi Indy was the next race of the day. 8 entries. Jay Howard continues to show us why he likes this class, setting a new total lap record as well as high heat new record. Glen also ran a great race coming up 1 lap shy of the track record but also TQ'ing. Richard Hofer made the podium with a fantastic drive in his first Indy car race.

Next Flexi Nascar. 13 ENTRIES!!! very cool with lots of marshals. David and Laurie Watkins both raced which was great. Jereme Lebourgeois had arrived at 1pm and bought parts to build a car. He hadn't seen a slot car track in several years. He finished 5th amongst a veteran group of racers! Well done Jereme. Wild Bill had a race he's like to forget. Greg Moses, having had a great GTP race, burned his motor in the first ' race to win. heat. Sorry Greg. Steve Thornton's car was a rocket. He and Kraig Beck gave Gary a good run but it was Gary's night to break his old total lap record.

A huge thank you to everyone that came to race this weekend. It really was an amazing weekend with a huge variety of slot car racing classes.

Our newest class started today at Dallas Slot Cars.

Flexi Can Am. That's a regular flexi chassis with a $11.95 Falcon 7 motor and any type Can Am body. We didn't know what kind of times they might turn. We weren't sure about what body would work best.
We welcome a nice group of racers from Wichita Falls. Thanks for driving to Dallas. We hope you had fun and will be back for more.
Luther Gilbreath came to test a few motors. George and Jay forced a car in his hand and he decided to race too.
This was Glen Blanchard race. He lead wire to wire. An impressive 8 laps over George Mikez. George did have high heat, 43 laps on yellow. (just past the counter). Glen took the other 3 new track records. A nice 3rd place for Steve Thornton, having only been back into racing for a few weeks. All three of these gentlemen would see the podium again on Saturday.

1st Glen Blanchard 324 laps TQ 4.04 Fast lap 4.05 ALL NEW TRACK RECORDS

Next race of the day...Flexi Nascar. It was the same chassis from the previous race, same $11.95 motor and a Nascar body. Wow what a turnout. We had 2 racers walk in just as the race was about to start. Jerry Hall took Mac's place. If they had come in 2 min before we could have had 19 entries. Big Wow!

Lots of guys and gals from Wichita Falls joined this race. David Watkins sneaked off from work with Laurie to come play. Jereme came back for more fun. He arrived late, so there was a bit of thrashing but well worth it in the end. A nice 5th place for him.

George Mikez seemed determined to win this one. George was the last one to Qualify. His very fast 4.12, knocked Laurie Watkins off the TQ spot. George's 313 laps was shy of the record by 2 laps. Very impressive considering the large field of racers.
Wild Bill and Glen Blanchard battled back and forth the entire race. But it was Wild Bill's turn on the podium this time, beating Glen by one lap.

1st George Mikez 313 laps TQ 4.12
2nd Steve Thornton 305

We should have had 8 entries but jay and Gary Dean sat out to marshall. I'm happy to report that my new wireless remote track button works beautifully so I could marshall too.

It was a good race. See the photo of the computer monitor for the end of the 7th heat results. 3 drivers on the same lap. Steve Thornton stayed focused for a very nice 2nd place. Wild Bill, insisting his motor was dying through the race, finished 3rd. George broke a lead wire in the last heat. Mac had driving issues. David Flanagan had technical issues. It was Glen's race to solidly win! A double victory day for Glen!

It was getting late, everyone agreed not to qualify.

2nd Steve Thornton 323
3rd Wild Bill 322
4th Mac 309

Saturday was a fun day of racing at Dallas Slot Cars. We welcomed back Ben White. It didn't take him long to shake the rust off his trigger finger. George Mikez started the first race but had a call from work so he had to leave.

10 entries in Flexi Nascar made for an exciting race. Jerry Hall had a great race and a great finish. He's only been racing a few weeks. Dean Wolf had a bit of mechanical trouble. Wild Bill came to race after finishing is Saturday honey do list. However, it wasn't Bill's most fun day of racing. One of those days where nothing goes right.

The Flexi GTP was OHHH so close. The race was between Glen Blanchard, Brian Cannon and Ben White finishing only 1 lap apart! George and Mac finished 1 lap apart. Jay Howard, lost his driving skills during this race.

We had lots of visitors this weekend. Some new faces and some familiar faces. It was great to see so many people laughing, having fun and racing. Thanks for making us smile!

Jan 24 & 25 2009
It was a great weekend at Dallas Slot Cars. It was a little unusual. Friday afternoon, Mac's family surprised him with a phone call from DFW airport, announcing their arrival for a visit. So Jay drove Mac and his family around on Saturday and Sunday touring the highlights of Dallas. Which left me at the track by myself until late on Saturday and most of Sunday doing everyone's job. His family's surprise visit turned out great and racing went on without them.

First race of the day was Flexi Indy. WOW!! 11 entries. Everyone seems to love this class. And on this particular day Richard Hofer loved it the best. Richard took his first win at Dallas Slot Cars. He beat a mighty field. Congrats Richard!

David Watkins entered at the last moment for his first time to race Indy. Although he repeatedly kept asking Willie for more glue, he had a very respectiful 5th place. Tony G and Ben White had some technical issues early on. Glen Blanchard suffered a motor fatality. (I think it was the motor)
This is a great, cheap, fun class to run. If you haven't tried it come use my car. I loan it to someone different every week. Once you drive it, you'll be hooked.

1st Richard Tex Hofer 199 laps fast lap 4.71
2nd George Mikez 197 TQ 4.40 fast lap 4.49
3rd Dean Wolfe 195 4.71

5th David Watkins 191 4.28
6th Steve Thornton 190 4.71
7th Wild Bill Frost 176 4.60

9th Glen Blanchard 153 4.60
10th Ben White 145 4.82
11th Tony Griffin 130 4.31

GTP was next and Gary Risk showed us all, why this is his favorite class. Winning by 20 laps. However, Glen Blanchard TQ'd to remind Gary that he is nipping at his heels.

Steve Thornton and Glen Blanchard battled for 2nd the entire race , finishing 3 laps apart. Ben White and Dean Wolfe kept it even the whole time, finishing 1 lap apart. Richard had a mechanical issue. David Flanagan had controller issues and Wild Bill was less than impressed with the performance of his car.

2nd Glen Blanchard 319 TQ 3.98 fast lap 4.22
3rd Steve Thornton 315 4.28

6th Richard Hofer 261 4.38
7th David Flanagan 256 4.60
8th Wild Bill Frost 255 4.18

Last race of the day was Flexi Nascar. 7 entries started but only 5 finished. Richard had a major chassis problem that made him retire after only 10 laps. Glen Blanchard broke a lead wire mid race and stopped. They both kindly offered to marshall so I get back behind the computer.
Jereme L. came to join in the Nascar fun. He brought some friends with him that tried out the King and the HO tracks. I think they will be back for more fun.

Steve Thornton and Gary Risk battled for the win in this one. Steve Thornton had his very first TQ this race. Congrats Steve, I know you'll be back for more.
Going into the lat heat Gary was ahead by 3 laps. Steve pulled within 1 lap of Gary to finish 2nd.

Sunday brought Retro Can Am to the building. Retro Can Am was first. 5 great racers battled the entire race. We had several heats with no track calls. That made for some cool racing.
Good luck to all of you going to New Braunfels next weekend. I wish we could go but I know you will all have a great time with some fantastic racing.

2 racers from Tony's old track in Mesquite came in. They will both be back for more fun.
Pat Gleason bought all the parts to get his GTP ready to win win win.

Thanks for everyone racing this weekend. Thanks for everyone helping with everything while I was a little short handed.
Dont forget the 2hr GTP Enduro Feb 22.

Sorry no photos this week ( I forgot the camera)
